๐ RELEASES & LAUNCHES
- Google open-sources Harness2, a recursive agent harnessing framework
Google Cloud AI Research open-sourced Harness2, a framework that recursively improves an agent's harness around a frozen model without ground-truth labels.- For developers building agents on frozen models: Harness2 refines the 8 editable harness components (system prompt, guardrails, memory, tool guidance, subagents, skills, scripts, plugins) at test time with 0 parameters trained.
- It uses a contrastive ProposeโProbeโCompose step plus a harnessing-level recursion that stores adopted harnesses and lessons (EXPERIENCE.md) to guide future tasks, working without ground-truth verifiers.
- Tested with Gemini 3.5 Flash and GLM-5 under OpenCode and Codex on WorkBuddy-Bench, JobBench, and Harvey's LAB: one step improved all 4 configurations, with gains up to +11.5 points on WorkBuddy-Bench (GLM-5/OpenCode 64.2โ75.7), +4.5 on JobBench, and +11.8 points on LAB partial pass.
- Parallel recursion at k=5 lifted Gemini/OpenCode to 80.8 on WorkBuddy-Bench; weaker executors gained more, and 3 of 4 setups also used fewer steps per task.
- Available on GitHub (Apache-2.0, ~6k stars) as v0.1.0 for Linux with Python 3.12/3.13 and uv; model-backed runs use Vertex AI, with OpenCode (default) or Codex executors.
๐ฐ BUSINESS & FUNDING
- Anthropic commits 5% of shares to new Public Benefit Fund that grows with valuation
Anthropic announced the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, committing 5% of its shares with an additional 2% per 50% valuation increase.- Aimed at funding public-good initiatives such as large donations to nonprofits, direct distributions to specific populations, and addressing AI's labor market impacts.
- Structured as a wholly-owned LLC (not a 501(c)(3)); 5% of shares committed today, subject to stockholder approval, with 2% more added at board discretion for every 50% increase in company value above a baseline.
- Anthropic has already committed $200 million to studying AI's labor market effects; the Fund gives flexibility for bolder approaches.
- Combined with co-founders' pledge to donate 80% of their equity and an employee equity match program (~half of employees participate), roughly 20% of Anthropic shares will be dedicated to the public good.
- Fund equity cannot be used for lobbying or political giving; governance and valuation milestone details to be shared in coming months.
